Pierre Jeanneret, a key modernist figure and frequent collaborator with his cousin Le Corbusier, is known for iconic designs, including those created for the utopian city of Chandigarh in India. Among these is the PJ-BU-02-A desk, originally crafted for the city’s administrative buildings.
The desk features a six-part pigeonhole bookcase on the back, a deep drawer and cubbyhole at the front, and a mix of slab and tapered legs for balance. The vinyl top was replaced later, but the wood retains its original character, with patina and markings intact. It is documented in “Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret: Chandigarh, India” and “The Indian Adventure.
