Claudio Salocchi (1934–2012) was a celebrated Italian designer and architect, renowned for his meticulous approach to furniture design. His work was marked by an unwavering commitment to both form and function, resulting in innovative, yet highly practical compositions.
The Paione modular sofa, designed by Salocchi for Sormani, is a prime example of his thoughtful design philosophy. Composed of four modular elements in white leather, two of which feature integrated backrests, the sofa offers versatile configurations. The remaining two pieces serve dual purposes as footstools or extensions, allowing for customization and adaptability.
Each unit is crafted from foam mounted on a lightweight plastic tray, ensuring easy movement and flexibility. The cushions, with their carefully chamfered edges, fit seamlessly into place but remain easily removable for cleaning.
