The Delfi is part of the Ultrarazionale series, which was launched in the 68' featuring sculptural Carrara marble pieces designed by Scarpa, typified by his signature attention to detail and choice of materials. This table is a re-design of a Rationalist model created by M. Breuer in the 1930s for Gavina’s residence in Bologna. At the end of the 1960s, Scarpa began to re-examine the original concept, effecting some variations, in agreement with the designer.
The contours of the leg detailing are derived from the classical architecture of ancient Rome. A thick rectangular slab of square profiled marble sits on top of the two base pieces.
Excellent condition.
