''Mantilla'' Sofa By Kazuhide Takahama

Two-seater "Mantilla" sofa, designed by Kazuhide Takahama for Studio Simon in 1973. It is made of wood and polyurethane foam structure, with white velvet upholstery. Kazuhide Takahama called it "Mantilla" since the fabric covers the sofa like a mantel (fireplace). The transient expression due to the velvet that seems to rest loosely on the couch creates a dynamic look. By pure chance, the fabric appears to be draped over the sofa. The lines structure the surface and make a play of shadows.
